A Guide to Choosing Your Wedding Ring Online

With preparations under way for the big day, you would think that the wedding rings would be one of the most important items to arrange, yet they often get overlooked and left until quite late in the day to arrange.

Because of limited choice of jewelery on the high street, much of which is mass produced and imported, many people looking for something a little bit different are turning to the internet to purchase their wedding rings. Some people are a still a little nervous about making a purchase on the internet, especially when it is something as important as a wedding ring.

One of the biggest concerns is getting the ring size correct as many people, especially men, will not have worn a ring before. From past experience we know that people have made big mistakes when it comes to getting their ring size correct, from using bits of string or plastic to printing off scales from the internet onto bits of paper and wrapping around the finger. All of these methods are very inaccurate and should not be used.

Worryingly, we have dealt with a growing number of customers who have been into high street jewelers to be measured and have been given the incorrect size. This has happened so frequently in the past that we can only presume that this is done deliberately because the retailer knows that they won't get a sale as the customer has admitted that they are going to buy their rings from the internet.

To overcome these issues, we aim to make the ring sizing process easy for our customers and make it hassle free for them to purchase their dream wedding ring online. Since all our rings are made to order, if customers really are unsure about size we send out professional'>http://www.love2have.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1238">professional wide wedding ring sizers so that they have the opportunity of measuring their fingers in the comfort of their own home. This is important as having your finger measured just once is only a snapshot in time and that measurement could be as much as a whole size out since your fingers change shape throughout the day. Hands swell in the heat and your fingers are slightly larger in the afternoon. Cold weather makes your hands shrink and rings will become loose and could fall off and be lost if the ring is too big to start with.

Love2have specializes in handcrafted jewelery with many of our ring designs being wider than those on the high street. The wider rings are becoming increasingly popular as wedding rings but you may need at least one size bigger if opting for a ring over 5 mm wide. As many of our custom designs cannot be resized it is doubly important right from the outset, to get the size correct. Our advice to those looking to purchase wedding rings from us, is don't add to the stress of the wedding preparations by leaving your rings until the last minute. Give us plenty of time to ensure sizing is correct so that we can get their ring made with time to spare. Stand out from the crowd, find your special wedding ring and know that you are supporting small independent designers based here in the UK making beautiful handcrafted pieces of jewelery. Love2have wedding rings really are worth waiting for. Written by John Lewis of Love2Have. Downed US Air Force Pilot Rescued in Bosnia (1995)

On June 2, 1995, US Air Force pilot Scott O'Grady was enforcing a NATO no-fly zone over Bosnia when his F-16 was hit by a surface-to-air missile. He ejected and, for the next six days, survived in the wilderness by eating leaves and ants. During that time, he avoided capture by Serb patrols and made contact with US forces. The Marines then mounted a daring rescue and brought him home. The 2001 film Behind Enemy Lines is loosely based on O'Grady's ordeal. Why did he sue the filmmakers? More... Discuss

Francis Harry Compton Crick (1916)

While working in a research lab at Cambridge after WWII, Crick helped discover the molecular structure of DNA. It was one of the most important scientific findings of the century, and he shared the 1962 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his work. He also clarified how cells use DNA to build proteins. During WWII, he was deflected from his original course of research after a bomb hit his lab. Crick later said he had been studying "the dullest problem imaginable" at the time. What was it? More...
