Hannah Montana a Hit Among Parents as Well

Author: Groshan Fabiola

There is no doubt about it--Disney's original series, Hannah Montana is a worldwide success and phenomenon. The large and still growing fan base has been fully supportive of the show and its other related endeavors such as the clothing and accessory line and music albums from the star of the show, Miley Cyrus.

Recently, it was reported that Hannah Montana has actually crossed age borders and have invited older aged fans and enthusiasts as well, such as the parents of the young boys and girls who are avid fans of the show.

Take for example 41-year-old mother Sue Kenna who was in a conversation with Sentinel and Enterprise. She told them that she enjoyed watching the show with her children, 4-year-old twins Brigitte and Isobell, and 2-year-old son Max.

"They just want to sing and dance all the time, so it's good music for them," Kenna explained.

Kenna adds that the music of Hannah Montana is enjoyable for the kids as they can all sing along to the words. She also lets them tune in to Radio Disney, to be sure that they're listening to the right music appropriate for their age.

"Some songs I don't want them to sing along to," said the mother of three. "They can sing along to those [Hannah Montana] songs."

The Massachusetts morning daily newspaper also reported about the other parents they've talked to, and the parents were happy that Hannah Montana presented a positive role model.

The show's positive and wholesome image has also led Subway restaurant to use the brand to reach out to the teen and tween market in the United States.

The sandwich establishment had started using Hannah Montana toys and promotions on April 30 as a part of their campaign against childhood obesity. The promotion, which ended a few weeks ago, actually increased sales while it was ongoing.

"My generation had Punky Brewster," said Michelle Cordial, Director of Brand Management for Subway, last week. "This generation has Hannah Montana combined with the music element. The music element definitely helps."

Marking Cards

Often used for card tricks or to cheat when gambling, card marking is the process of altering playing cards so that the suit, rank, or both are surreptitiously revealed to the card marker or a conspirator. The practice has evolved over the years from adding bends or bumps to cards to using various inks and scratches, and today's card markers use sophisticated "shade" technology to add marks that can only be read with special sunglasses, contact lenses, or what other high-tech system? Henri Rousseau (1844)

Rousseau was an entirely self-taught French painter. He held a minor post as a tax collector in Paris for more than 20 years before retiring to paint at the age of 49. His work remained consistently naive and imaginative and was often ridiculed. It was only after his death that Rousseau gained recognition as an artistic genius. Though he never left France or saw a jungle, he is best known for his paintings of lush, tropical scenes and wild animals. What was his inspiration for the exotic scenes? More... Discuss
